A Mormon Pageant

Since the 1930s, members of the LDS Church have gathered in upstate New York to stage a pageant that depicts the stories in the Book of Mormon. It's a tradition for many families that will soon change. The Church recently announced that it is now discouraging these kinds of productions, and the Hill Cumorah pageant is scheduled to end after the 2020 season.

Last year, filmmaker Curtis Whitear went to Palmyra and met Brett Hilton, an insurance agent cast as Mormon.

Listen to a conversation with former Hill Cumorah Pageant director Gerald Argetsinger hosted by the Salt Lake Tribune podcast Mormon Land.
